Possible Ideas for Installation
- Blowing up one of my ink pieces larger than 600x900mm and have that as an abstract background with my final piece on top of it. Both will be pasted onto the wall.
- Printed on Blue Back paper used for billboards at 600x900mm, used as a metaphor of a map (Billboards can be used for showing us where things are)
For my Installation, I plan on using Redcliffe Imaging to print my work. I found out that they print blueback billboard posters and are very good quality. I had an epiphany whilst scrolling through the website of my print metaphorically resembling a map. Usually, some outdoor billboard shows directions to where something is. Usually, when someone is lost they use a map to find there way. I also believe the strokes of ink in my installation piece has a resemblance of lines shown on maps - though mine appears to have many more dead ends and sharp turns than a normal map. I think it would be a great idea if I could use this company to do my print rather than using normal fine art printing paper.
Sizing
Whilst I was exploring this project, I used a mirror in one of my shoots. a mirror can be an item that holds so many faults and problems and what we see within one is usually just an image of ourselves but not our true selves. I have a few other mirrors in my room. One of which I believe would be the perfect size for this print. The dimensions were roughly around 600x900mm - which is sometimes also the same size as a fold away map or a poster in a bedroom.
Installing
I would like to pin the piece up with black map push pins that are used to pinpoint a place on a map (when people used them instead of google maps) - A further extension on the map metaphor. However I don't feel as if they will be strong enough to break through into the wall. So instead I'll be using stronger pins by Moji that look a lot less brittle than black map pins. They will still serve the same metaphor and use.
If there were no restraints or rules to what we have to submit, I would have loved to experiment with what this could have looked like on video. I would've experimented with noise and grainy sounds to compliment the work and maybe added a series which flickered between one another.
