Speaking of dreams, for me, the symbolism of a bed means feeling safe and secure. It's a safe space that most of us take for granted - On average most of us spend 1/3 of our time per day in bed. It's such a simple piece of furniture but rather complex. Many events, feelings and things can happen on an ordinary rectangle.

Bedmounds Description - When we think of beds, we usually think of them as neatly made, waiting to be used.
I wanted to undo that, to pull back the covers and sculpt a monumental shape out of the fabric where our bodies would be,
and where our bodies have been, as both a still-life (of the materials of sleep) and a portrait (of someone's presence).
When I first discovered this piece I instantly thought of how we use beds. We encase our pillows and duvets in pillowcases and sheets. We sleep, sit, talk and sometimes eat on it. Noah's piece made me think about the ways we treat our bed and what the bed means to us in our lives. Usually, it's a safe haven that we can't wait to get back into at the end of the day.
What I love most about Noah's series is his use of light for each picture. at times it's streaming light from the back onto the duvet mounds, giving it a three-dimensionality due to the casting of the shadows. In some of the photos, the light is minimal and illuminating the room from only one side, casting rather dark shadows into the scene. I really admire the way he has 'sculpted' the duvets in a different way for every photo as it gives each of them their own personality.
When I think about the meaning behind this piece, I see the duvets resembling ghosts of the people that usually occupy the beds and without them there they're just lost empty spaces. The bed is seen as a rather static inanimate object, however, we are the ones that make it move and tangle and crease.
