Inspired by the catchphrase, "Have you seen me?", that were placed upon the milk cartons of missing children. I've thought about the ways that the phrase reflects my project. "Have you seen me?" can easily be changed into "Have I seen me?"
"Have I seen me?" sounds like someone that's trying to find something within themselves.
Much like the headshots of children on milk cartons, I will be doing some self-portraits of myself.
I plan on taking them using a black background and natural lighting. I've also recently found a small black-framed mirror that can be used to show a reflection of myself. During the shoot, I want to produce some photos that I'm later able to distort in someway. As well as take pictures of myself in the scene without me actually being in the scene.
This shoot aesthetically is inspired by a few of the late Robert Mapplethorpe's dreamy self-portraits and his series featuring two men dancing.
I've decided I will also continue to shoot my photos on digital rather than analog for this project as I haven't had a lot of the time to develop my film and scan my negatives.
